Sports practices, classes and homework will be canceled that evening
Hopewell Valley’s Night Off is just around the corner. On Feb. 24, Hopewell Valley will be taking the night off from homework, from sports practices, from meetings and anything else that would normally get in the way of family time.
This community-wide event, initiated by the Hopewell Valley Municipal Alliance, was designed in response to the increasing demands of work and school on personal and family time. With the support of local school officials, sports leaders, parents, community and religious leaders, sports practices, classes and homework will be canceled Tuesday evening.
”We live in a culture where work, meetings and shuttling our kids to after school activities soaks up a lot of time that could be spent together as a family,” said Heidi Kahme, chairwoman of the Municipal Alliance. “As families, we need to find this time to get to know our kids, find out their passions, to help guide them and to learn from them.”
The Hopewell Valley Municipal Alliance is part of a state-wide network of municipal alliances that are aimed at the prevention of alcoholism and drug addiction. The Alliance works toward this goal by funding or sponsoring 20 programs and activities throughout Hopewell Valley which are geared toward drug and alcohol awareness, education, positive youth development and public safety.
