South Brunswick High School has introduced a new method of keeping parents and students informed on the happenings at the school while saving paper at the same time.
Parents and students can sign up for e-mail alerts from the school about upcoming events, which eliminates the need to mail fliers to students’ homes.
”This is one more outlet for us to be able to communicate with parents about things going on in the high school,” said Public Information Officer Rebecca Leonard. “With so many things going on it’s hard for parents to be as involved as they used to be, so this is one more way to let them know what we’re doing and how we’re doing it.”
Parents can log onto the school’s Web site and sign up for a variety of e-mail updates, such as emergency notifications, board meeting agendas and highlights of previous board meetings.
”We just started using the system this year but we’ve been toying around with it for some time,” Ms. Leonard said. “Now is the perfect opportunity to do it at the high school, where we used to rely on quarterly newsletters and flyers. We expect this system will grow over time.”
Approximately 600 parents have signed up for the service. To sign up visit www.sbschools.org/schools/sbhs and click on the e-mail notification.
