The eight-year run of the Howell High School girls as a Shore Conference division bowling champion was snapped by Jackson Liberty High School this winter. Jackson Liberty (34-5) seized the lead early and never looked back on its way to the B Central crown. The Rebels were 28-11.

Howell coach Dave Clampffer, whose team lost three senior starters from the 2008 squad and a top reserve who moved, was not surprised by Jackson Liberty’s strength this year.

“I knew Liberty would be solid, since they returned all of their players and added a freshman (Ashley Chiaramonte) who is tops in average in our division,” he said. “Eight years was a great run, but all good things come to an end. We’ll just have to start another streak.”
