By Kelly Skinner
New Brunswick, NJ (February 18, 2009)—State Theatre presents the award-winning illusionists The Pendragons: Magical Theatre Company on Friday, February 27, 2009 at 8pm. The Pendragons is the closing even for the theater’s winter festival, Hub City Carnivale, three weeks of performances, activities, and attractions for children 1-100. KIDS GO FREE!* Patrons purchasing Pendragons tickets via phone or at the Ticket Office window will receive one child’s Pendragons ticket free with every adult ticket purchased. Beginning at 7pm, as part of the closing ceremonies of Hub City Carnivale, there will be live music by the Rutgers a cappella group, Deep Treble. Tickets range from $20-40 (group, college student, and senior discounts available).
The Pendragons are comprised of husband and wife team Jonathon and Charlotte Pendragon and are the most magical groundbreaking duo in the world. Performing together for over 27 years in over 50 countries, the internationally known illusionists have performed for such esteemed audiences as the President of the United States, the Queen of England, the Prince of Wales, and the Royal Family of Monaco.
About the Pendragons
A great magician is a “master of imagination,” and Jonathan Pendragon referred to as a “maestro” by his peers is one of the greatest magicians the world has ever known. Chosen by Magic Magazine, as one of 10 living magicians whose work shaped magic in the 20th and 21st centuries, his expertise has been used in many movies and television programs including the film Bogus and a special for PBS. In addition, the illusion philosophy of Pendragon’s performance motivates the magician in Christopher Priests novel The Prestige, which was also released as major motion picture.
Charlotte Pendragon is the most honored woman in the history of magic. She was the first woman to receive the “Magician of the Year” award from the Academy of Magical Arts, was the first woman to be admitted into England’s famed magic Circle in the 100 plus years of the organization, and was the youngest woman to ever receive the “Performing Fellowship” from Hollywood’s famed Magic Castle.
