   Representatives of the Northern Burlington County Regional School District will be at the Chesterfield Township Committee Meeting 7:30 p.m., tonight concerning the referendum on solar panels that will be on the ballot at the upcoming school election.    The Union Fire Company No. 1 Pancake Breakfast will be held 7 – 11 a.m., Sunday, March 1, at the Crosswicks Firehouse. Everyone is invited, bring your friends and family and enjoy a few flapjacks and some breakfast sausage. All you can eat pancakes and sausage, orange juice, coffee. Ticket price are adults $5 and kids under 12, $3.50. Union Fire Company No. 1 Pancake Breakfast are held on the first Sunday of the month expect for July and August.    The Chesterfield Township Athletic Association meeting will be held 7 p.m., Monday, March 2, at the Chesterfield Township Elementary School. The Chesterfield Township Athletic Association (CTAA) is a volunteer organization that provides opportunities for Chesterfield Township youth to participate in Baseball/Softball, Basketball, Soccer, Football, Cheerleading and Wrestling.    The Chesterfield Township Public Education Fund meeting will be held 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 4, at Chesterfield Township Elementary School. Mark your calendars now for the Chesterfield Township Public Education Fund’s Annual Golf Tournament, Dinner & Live Auction to be held Thursday, May 7, at Mercer Oaks in Princeton Junction. Go for the golf, dinner or both, and stay for the auction. This is the Chesterfield Township Education Fund’s only fundraiser. To date, the CPEF has expended over $200,000 to purchase items for the classrooms as well as fund activities and programs for the students. Please plan to attend this great annual tradition.    The Chesterfield Township Free Rabies Shot Clinic will be held on Saturday, March 7, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Municipal Garage (located behind Municipal Building). Dog licenses will not be issued in the clerk’s office during the clinic this year. Please be advised that a dog license cannot be issued if the rabies shot expires during the current year. All dogs must be licensed by March 31, 2009. Please note: Changes in fees to $8 and $11. Late charges are assessed after this date. Puppies must be licensed after the age of six months.
   The township clerk issues dog licenses during normal working hours. A current rabies is required for the issuance of a dog license. If the rabies vaccination expires during the licensing year, it will not be accepted. Fees for dog licenses are as follows: Non-spayed/non-neutered $11, spayed/neutered, $8, late fee after March 31, $5 per month.    The Northern Burlington Instructional Athletic Association (NBIAA) Softball & Baseball Clinics/Practices for players registered to play in the Northern Burlington Baseball & Softball Leagues will be held Sunday, March 8, at the Northern Burlington County Regional High School Gymnasium. Babe Ruth & Major Boys: 12 – 1:30 p.m., Minor Boys: 1:30 – 2:30 p.m., Rookie Boys: 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. Rookie & Minor Girls: 3:30 – 4:30 p.m., Major & Senior Girls: 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. Clinics will include throwing, fielding, catching, pitching, batting & base running. All registered players, coaches, assistants and parents are welcome to attend the sessions. Hosted and conducted by the coaches of the participating members of the NBIAA. A $5 donation is requested for each session attended to support Northern Burlington Softball and Baseball and Post 26 Jr. Legion Baseball.

   James Smith, a member of Chesterfield Baptist Church Youth Group, The ROCK is currently in the process of completing his Eagle Scout Service Project. His project consists of drives that he is conducting for items to be sent to soldiers in the New Jersey National Guard 50th Brigade who are currently deployed in Iraq. His project is being completed under the supervision of ARMS (American Recreational Military Service). He will be conducting a township drive during the first two weeks of March.
   He will be working with members of his troop as well as members of his church youth group, The ROCK, to distribute donation bags to township homes on Saturday, March 7. They will then be returning to collect the donation bags on Saturday, March 14. Accompanying each bag will be a letter of explanation and a list of suggested items for donation.
   A sample list of suggested items is as follows: Individual microwaveable soups, stews, packs of crackers, cookies, granola bars, powdered drink mixes, cereals, gum, hard candy, mints, popcorn, tea bags, coffee packets, or popcorn; lip balm; small containers of foot powder; green or white crew socks; batteries; medical items (ex: Band Aids, Neosporin, etc.); packs of wipes (ex: Wet Ones); eye drops; small containers of mouth wash; or individual packs of tissues. If you do not receive a bag at your home, will be away during the first two weeks of March, or would like to get more information or find out other ways that you might be able to assist James with this most deserving cause, please contact him at 298-8061.

   The Northern Burlington Soccer Club is starting a new U10 girls travel soccer team to play in the spring. To be eligible, girls most be born on or after Aug. 1, 1998, basically girls in the third/fourth grade. We are also looking for coaches.    The La Leche League of Crosswicks (LLL) meetings emphasize the joys of breastfeeding while they inform and encourage mothers who wish to nurse their babies. LLL offers mother-to-mother support in a series of four meetings based on the book, The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding, published by La Leche League International.
   Discussions at meetings include the latest medical research as well as mothers’ personal experiences. LLL services include a lending library and a 24-hour phone help for breastfeeding problems and questions. LLL of Crosswicks meets the third Friday of each month at 10 a.m.

   The Chesterfield Township Elementary School would like resident to be aware of construction traffic on Thorn Lane and Saddle Way at future site of the new school.
