Pasta dinner
    Friday, Feb. 27 — St. Mary’s PTA is sponsoring a meatless pasta dinner on Friday, Feb. 27, from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The dinner will be held at St. Mary’s school hall located at 30 Elizabeth St., Bordentown City. The menu is pasta with marinara sauce, Caesar salad, rolls and butter, dessert and beverages. Adult tickets are $8, children ages 4-12 are $5, and children under 3 are free. Dinner tickets are available from ST. Mary’s school, church rectory or by calling Toni Laba at 609-298-4855. Tickets will also be sold at the door. Eat in or take out.

    Saturday, Feb. 28 — The Burlington County American Legion Family (Post, Auxiliary and SAL) will have a joint Testimonial Dinner on Sunday, March 8, at Charley’s Other Brother at 1 p.m. Being honored are the Burlington County Commander Gerald Dickinson of Riverside Post 146, the Burlington County President Marie Hesse of Riverside Unit 146 and the Burlington County SAL Commander Paul Zimarowski Sr. from Florence Post 194. The dinner cost is $35 and there are three choices for dinner. Please make your reservations with Pat Stojinski, 499-1237, by Saturday, Feb. 28.
Monthly meeting
    Saturday, Feb. 28 — The Vietnam Veterans of America NJ Chapter 899 will hold its regular monthly meeting at 1 p.m. at the Bordentown Township senior/community center next to the Municipal Building, you can find the calendar of future events at www.vva899.org or call 609-298-9122.
Friends for the Marsh
    Saturday, Feb. 28 —Light rail trip through the marsh and to Roebling meets at 11 a.m. with leader Barbara Ross. Meet in the parking lot of the Bordentown Light Rail station (100 W. Park Avenue at Prince Street, above the boat landing) at 11 a.m. sharp, purchase tickets.

‘Salmon People’
    Saturday, Feb. 28 — Peter Donaldson, author, storyteller, community organizer, teacher and conservationist will give audiences a sneak-peak of his one-man show “Salmon People,” at 6:30 p.m. at Carslake Community Center, Crosswicks St., in Bordentown City.
    The preview will be followed by a discussion with the artist about his work as an actor and environmentalist. “Salmon People” is a one-man theatrical performance about the interdependence of salmon and people in the Pacific Northwest. The story is told through the eyes of Cyrus Jackson, an everyman character who finds himself employed up at the local dam as a salmon taxi.

Opening weekend
    Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 28 and March 1 — Gelato’s Italian Ice and Ice Cream Shop is having its Opening Weekend event. Balloons, music, ice cream and fun at 680 Route 206 South Bordentown, behind Russ Ayers Hot Dogs, 609-575-1490.
Blood drive
    Friday, March 6 — An American Red Cross blood drive will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at St Mary’s Church Rectory, second floor, at 30 Crosswicks St., Bordentown City. Contact Sue at 324-9082 to schedule an appointment or just come the day of. Thank you for your support.
Shrimp Night
    Friday, March 6 — The Willitts-Hogan-Tonne American Legion Post 39 on Fourth Avenue in Roebling will have its monthly shrimp night on March 6. Come out and enjoy the peel your own 15 large shrimp platter with homemade potato salad and cole slaw plus dessert for only $10. If you would rather have the meatball sandwich with the same sides and dessert the cost is only $7. Take-out orders are also available by calling the Post at 499-3880 after 3:30 p.m.
Tot Shabbat
    Friday, March 6 — Temple B’nai Abraham (at 58 Crosswicks St., Bordentown) will hold “Tot Shabbat” services from 6- 7:30 p.m. Designed for children ages 1-6, this is a simplified Friday night service followed by a potluck dinner and a themed story and craft. This month’s theme is “Purim.” Contact Rachel Schwartz, 609-324-7762, to RSVP. There is no cost but reservations are required.

Casino trip
    Sunday, March 8 — The Knights of Columbus No. 570 will sponsor a bus trip to the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City. A bus will leave the St. Mary’s Church on Elizabeth Street at 4:30 p.m. for a four-hour stay. The cost is $25 per person and each attendee will receive $25 in cash. Auxiliary meeting
    Tuesday, March 10 — The Willitts-Hogan-Tonne American Legion Auxiliary Unit 39 will have their monthly meeting on Tuesday night at the Post Home on Fourth Avenue, Roebling, at 7 p.m. President Joan Horn is calling all members to attend. Information on the Wildwood convention will be presented.
Historical Society
    Wednesday, March 11 — Bordentown Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. at Friends Meeting House, 302 Farnsworth Ave. After a short business meeting, Dr. Michael Skelly will present a free program, “History of Boat and Ship Building in Bordentown.” Hear the stories of the “Holy Redeemer” floating church, tall sailing ships, and steamboats and the related wharves, foundries and shops that once played a major role in Bordentown life. Stations of the Cross
    Fridays, March 20-April 3 — Stations of the Cross will be offered at 6 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, 130 Prince St., Bordentown. Following Stations of the Cross, please join us for a light supper and fellowship. Cost for the dinner is $10 for adults, $5 for children under 12, and free for children under 5. All are welcome. Pancake breakfast
   Sunday, March 22 — The Lend-A-Hand Society of the First Baptist Church, at the corner of Prince and Church Street, in Bordentown is sponsoring a pancake breakfast on March 22 from 8 to 10 a.m. There will be an abundance of pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, orange or apple juice, and coffee. Tickets are $6 for adults, $3.50 for children 5-12, and children under 5 are free. Tickets may be purchased at the door or by calling Ruth Heitzenroeder at 609-298-6872.    Come, join us for a delicious breakfast and a service of worship.
Vera Bradley bingo
   Saturday, March 28 — The Jacobstown Volunteer Fire Co. Auxiliary will hold Vera Bradley bingo at the Jacobstown Fire House, 86 Chesterfield-Jacobstown Road (Route 528) with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. and the game starting at 7 p.m. Cost is $25 cash only, contact Cathy at 609-298-1169 for more information. Funds will benefit the volunteer fire and EMS company.

Theatre trip

Summer camp
    We’ll be “Powering Up” for God at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Monday, Aug. 11- Friday, Aug. 15 from 9-11:30 a.m. each day.    Kids aged 3 (and potty trained) through rising sixth graders are invited to attend an action packed week of science based fun. There will be food, games, crafts, dramas, music and more. Pre-registration is strongly required due to space limitations.    Those wishing to attend are encouraged to stop by HCLC, 280 Crosswicks Road in Bordentown to pick up a registration form.
