Tonight, Thursday, is the Florence Township Chapter of Deborah meeting at the Sterling House on Broad Street in Florence at 7:30 p.m. All are urged to attend.
Friday, March 6, at 7 p.m., Women’s World Day of Prayer hosted by the Parish of Saints Francis and Clare at Holy Assumption Church, 1290 Hornberger Ave., Roebling. Please come and join this ecumenical prayer service written by women of Papua, New Guinea for families in need worldwide. All churches in Florence Township are participating. This is being celebrated throughout 170 countries. All are welcome to attend the prayer service followed by light refreshments in McGrath Hall, sponsored by the Altar Rosary Society. Shrimp Night at the Willitts-Hogan-Tonne American Legion Post 39 on Fourth Avenue. in Roebling will be held on Friday, March 6, beginning at 5 p.m. until sold out. Cost of peel your own shrimp is only $10 and a meatball platter is $7. Of course you get some of our homemade potato salad and cole slaw and dessert So mark your calendar and come out to enjoy the food and visit with your friends and neighbors. You will have a good time.
The Ladies Auxiliary of Unit 39 in Roebling will have its monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 10, at the Post Home on Fourth Avenue starting at 7 p.m. Ladies, we need nine to make our membership goal for this year. If someone would like to join the Auxiliary, please call Maryann at 499-2829. The state convention will be held in Wildwood on June 11 and 12.
If any of our members would like to attend, please call Maryann with your reservation. She has all the details for both the Post and the Auxiliary. We will stay together at the Park Lane Motel.
The Burlington County American Legion Family (Post, Auxiliary and SAL) is having a joint testimonial dinner honoring the Burlington County Commander Gerald Dickinson of Riverside Post 146, The Burlington County Auxiliary President Marie Hesse of Riverside Unit 146 and Sal. Detachment Commander Paul Zimarowski Sr. of Florence Post 194. Also honored will be all past County Commanders and Presidents.
The dinner will be March 8 at Charley’s Other Brother at 1 p.m. Reservations are being taken by Pat Stojinski at 499-1237. Deadline is Feb. 28.
Please join us on Sunday, March 8, in honor of Girl Scout Sunday. Donuts and coffee will be served from 10 to 10:45 a.m. The church service is at 11 a.m. The girls will be honored during the service. Mark your calendars for the upcoming presentation of “Beauty and the Beast” on Thursday, March 12, Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14 at 7 p.m. This will be held at the Florence Township High School on Cedar Lane. Advance ticket sales will be held on Monday, March 9, from 5:30–7:30 p.m. Times for this were incorrect in last week’s paper ticket prices are $7 for adults and $5 for seniors and students.
The Florence Township High School Baseball Team parents Diamond Club are having a fund raiser to kick off this year’s season. This will be it’s First Annual Alumni game to take place on March 21 at noon at Veterans Park. Registration is $20 and includes a T-shirt, hot dog and drink at the game.
A Meet and Greet the coaches for parents will follow the event from 6 – 9 p.m. at the Marconi Lodge. A $20 donation will be collected at the door. For alumni participating inmboth events, the combined donation is $30. Flashes baseball apparel and bats will be on sale during the evening. Church, Second and Broad streets will have its annual roast pork and sauerkraut family style dinner on March 21 at the church There wil be one seating at 6 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $6 for children ages 4-12.
