On Sunday, March 8, at 11 a.m., Adath Israel Congregation will present an original Purim Shpiel (comic play) entitled “Aint Misbe- haman” with the collaboration of Hazzan Art Katlin, Shelly Rossman, and Steven Weiner of the congregation. The shpiel is made up of an original script backed by recorded music from Broadway, Motown, Beatles, and pop artists.
It is an intergenerational congregational cast and suitable for all ages. Come and enjoy the fun. In addition, Monday night, March 9, Adath Israel hosts a rousing celebration of Purim. First, the evening will start with a Chinese Buffet at 5:30 p.m. Reservations must be made by March 1. Cost for dinner is $14 for adults and $10 for children.
Then at 7 p.m., the congregation will continue with a festive costume parade and the reading of Megillat Esther (Book of Esther) supported by the energetic music of the Odessa Klezmer Band. Hazzan Katlin comments, “Purim is a joyous time for the family to celebrate together and revisit the story of Purim with lively music, joy and laughter.” The costume parade and Megillah reading are free of charge and open to all.
On Tuesday, March 10, Adath will offer a Purim Carnival at 4:30 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at the door.
