FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP — On Feb. 19, officers from the Freehold Township Police Department responded to a motor vehicle accident involving three pedestrians.
The accident was reported at about 8:30 p.m. and occurred along Route 9 south at the intersection of the jughandle to Freehold Mall.
Freehold Mall is on Route 9 north and includes, among other stores, the Burlington Coat Factory and the Freehold Music Center.
Police said, Irene Cautlatl, 20, of Freehold, was crossing the highway with her children, Maribel, 5, and Jasmin, 2, when they were struck by a Nissan Altima being operated by Paul Suckragh Jr., 18, of Lakewood. The pedestrians had just gotten off a bus prior to the accident.
Police said witnesses stated that the traffic signal for Route 9 was green at the time of the crash.
The pedestrians were transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, where they were being treated for undisclosed injuries. All three individuals are expected to recover, according to a police press release issued on Feb. 20.
The accident is being investigated by Police Officer Thomas Hartman of the Freehold Township Police Department Traffic Safety Bureau with assistance from the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team.
