Freehold Township police have released this drawing of a white man wanted for questioning in connection with the Feb. 8 burglary of a home on Georgia Road. FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP — The Freehold Township Police Department is requesting the assistance of residents following a rash of burglaries.
According to police, the first incident involved an apartment in the Chesterfield Gardens complex on Route 537. The initial call was received by police dispatch at about 10:30 p.m. Feb. 6. Jewelry was taken from the master bedroom closet, police said.
The second incident was a commercial burglary at the Raintree shopping center on Route 537 at Frankly Burgers and was reported early on Feb. 7. Police said unknown persons smashed the glass window in the rear door to the building, entered the restaurant and removed an undetermined amount of cash from the register.
The third incident was a commercial burglary at the Pond Road shopping center on Route 9 north at Tokyo Hibachi, and was reported to police dispatch at about 8:35 a.m. Feb. 8. Police said unknown persons gained entry by smashing the front plate-glass window of the restaurant and removed about $3,300 in cash from the cash register.
The final incident was reported to police dispatch at about 2:38 p.m. Feb. 8 and occurred at a private residence on Georgia Road east of the intersection of Jackson Mills Road. The homeowner departed for church services at about 10:15 a.m. and returned to find the home ransacked.
There is a suspect in the burglary of the Georgia Road home. The suspect is described as a white male in his mid-20s, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall, with a thin build and weighing about 150 to 170 pounds. He is described as having a fair complexion, with brown eyes and brown hair. He was reported to have been wearing a green T-shirt and jeans.
Police said residents are reminded to keep their vehicles and homes locked as a matter of personal safety, and to report any suspicious activity to the police department at 732-462- 7500.
