PRINCETON BRAND ECONOMETRICS NAMES CORY DAVIS CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
By Anthony P. Galli
NEW YORK, NY, Feb. 23, 2009 – Princeton Brand Econometrics (PBE) announced today the appointment of Cory A. Davis as the company’s President and Chief Executive Officer.
The privately held Princeton, NJ marketing engineering firm—with offices in New York, Philadelphia, and Atlanta—was established in 1991 and is known for its bar-setting reputation in simulating pharmaceutical marketing strategies and tactics, and accurately forecasting their sales results.
In announcing the move, PBE Co-Founder Barry Tannenholz said: “It’s rare when you can immediately recognize someone as having a genius for running your business. In my 38 years at the helm of two companies, Cory is the only person who engendered that confidence. He’s a brilliant analyst, which is at the heart of our business, but he’s also an exceptional salesman with an uncanny ability to work well with clients and staff. This is a striking and unique combination.
“Consultancies rarely have a second act,” Mr. Tannenholz emphasized. “They’re built on strong relationships, confidence, and personal trust—and those things can’t be bequeathed. For that reason, most consultancies never survive much beyond the founders. But our second generation is better than our first and our clients know it. Cory has their trust, their confidence, and their blessings.”
Mr. Davis was promoted last May from Vice President of Forecasting Operations to Chief Operating Officer of PBE (www.pbeco.com). He joined the company in 2004 as a Senior Analyst responsible for working with programmers and modelers on forecasting and resource allocation assignments. He quickly became the top grower of PBE’s customer base, which includes such clients as GSK, Abbott, Johnson & Johnson, Sanofi-Aventis, and Proctor and Gamble. Mr. Davis also automated many of PBE’s models, including its widely used ScriptCAST model, the gold standard for pharmaceutical forecasting. These advances have enabled PBE to increase the scale and efficiency of its production processes, assuring clients timely deliverables while improving PBE’s already industry-leading standards.
Mr. Davis reported that “PBE’s business is unusually strong, with the largest and most diverse client base in its history. I couldn’t be more excited about taking the helm of PBE at this time.”
“Our work is now more essential to the pharmaceutical industry than ever,” said Mr. Davis. “Given the state of pharma—lackluster pipelines, strong FDA oversight, greater pressure from managed care, and a weak economy overall—more weight is resting on each key decision top management makes.
“PBE guides companies more profitably through these difficult times.” Mr. Davis continued. “We’ve spent the last 18 years pioneering methodologies that allow our clients to see the sales outcomes of strategic and tactical initiatives they’re considering before resources are committed in the real world. These methodologies have been extensively validated in-market and demonstrate time and again that we are the best in the industry at what we do. Our clients get a tremendous advantage. They rely on our work when making critical decisions, such as whether a product acquisition, or even a company acquisition, is worth pursuing. And as events play out, they have consistently seen the millions we’ve saved them and the fortunes we’ve helped them make.”
Before joining PBE in its New York office, Mr. Davis worked in both the pharmaceutical and consumer packaged goods arenas at ACNielsen BASES in Parsippany, NJ. Mr. Davis attended Vassar College and the University of Melbourne in Australia for his B.A. Degree in Economics.
