A Gemini Drive resident was displaced from her apartment for at least the evening after police were called to the scene of a fire in her apartment at 4:33 p.m. Wednesday.
According to Hillsborough Township Police Chief Paul Kaminsky, it appears an electrical appliance on or near the stove caused the fire, but the police and Fire Safety Bureau are still investigating for an exact cause.
There were no injuries sustained in the fire, but Chief Kaminsky said the resident was displaced for the night because of heavy smoke in the apartment. In addition, he said, the kitchen cabinets sustained significant damage in the incident.
”But the fire department knocked the fire down before it spread,” he said.
Chief Kaminsky said residents in surrounding apartments were not evacuated.
