Feb. 28
   Comedy night: Optimist International is holding a “Laughter & Giving Stand-up Comedy Night,” at 7 p.m. at the South Brunswick Senior Center, 540 Ridge Road. The show will feature comedians Joe Conte and Ted Daniels. It marks the chapter’s first fundraiser this year. Tickets are $25 per person and are available by phone, at 732-274-1187, or email, at [email protected]. Food and drink are “bring your own.” The program is for those 21 and older.    Celebrity basketball game: South Brunswick High School Project Graduation, in conjunction with the non-profit Dreams for Kids, is sponsoring a basketball game between a team of professional athletes competing against multiple teams of South Brunswick students, parents, teachers and coaches. There will also be a limited access VIP session. Advanced ticket sales are encouraged. The cost is $30 for the VIP session which includes entry to the game. It is $10 for the game only. Tickets purchased on the day of the event will be $40 for the VIP session and $15.00 for the game.    Making Challah: Learn how to bake your own Shabbat Challah, 7:45 p.m. at the Chabad of South Brunswick. Presenter will be Goldie Azimov. Learn the significance of Challah, and its special connection to women.    Christian rock: Christian rock music will be featured at the 5:30 p.m. communion service at St. Barnabas Episcopal church, 142 Sand Hill Road.    Get ready for summer: Community Education’s Day Camp Night, 5:30-7 p.m. at Indian Fields Elementary School. Get acquainted with the most popular Summer Day Camps in town — BASE Camp for grades one through five and Adventure Camp for grades six through eight. Register early for great discounts. March 4
   Anything goes: Seniors will be dazzled when students from Crossroads South Middle School host A Day with the Characters, showcasing the school’s upcoming musical, “Anything Goes!” The show begins at 10 a.m. at Crossroads South (195 Major Road) and is free to any senior who pre-registers with the Senior Center. Transportation will be provided by the Senior Center. Anyone wishing to provide their own transportation to Crossroads South should park in the reserved parking spaces located in front of the building, near the auditorium. Custodians will be available to assist with the parking needs of those who drive to the show. The main characters from the show will join us for a 12 p.m. luncheon at the Senior Center. Lunch time will be filled with good food, good times, fabulous door prizes and a sing-a-long with the cast. Students will even be available for photographs.    Karaoke: American Legion Post 401, 148 Major Road, will host Karaoke Dance’s on the third Friday of each month, Jan. 16, Feb. 20, March 20 and April 17 beginning at 8:30 p.m. The Karaoke is free and open to the public. Food will be available for purchase. For information call 732-329-9861.
April 22
   Trip to a battleship: The Senior Center is sponsoring a trip to the Battleship New Jersey, located on the waterfront in Camden. This is a one and a half to two hour guided tour of the ship and includes lots of walking and some stair/ladder climbing. There is a multimedia room for those that may have limited mobility. The cost is $18 per person which includes admission, tour and transportation.
   You may register on or after Feb. 11 in person at the senior center. Lunch will be on our own at a restaurant to be determined.
   This is open to residents of South Brunswick 55 and over.

   Seniors only art show: South Brunswick’s Senior Citizens are invited to a special “Seniors Only” viewing of the school district’s fifth annual Student Art Gallery from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at South Brunswick High School, 750 Ridge Road.
   Seniors are asked to register through the Senior Center, 732-329-4000, ext. 7670 no later than Monday, April 13.
   Bus transportation will be provided by the Senior Center.
   Those interested in providing their own transportation may do so.
April 27
   Sacred cantata: The Choir from the First Baptist Church of Browns Mills will play in the historic Fresh Ponds Chapel, at the corner of Fresh Ponds and Davidsons Mill roads, at 7:30 p.m. The theme is The risen Savior, ending the season of Eastertide. Free.
June 6
   Pedals for Progress: Pedals for Progress will hold its 10th collection at South Brunswick High School, 750 Ridge Road, from 12 to 3 p.m. Items may be donated from now until June 6. This year we will collect used bikes, sewing machines, soccer balls and cleats. Items for collection should be accompanied by a check to “Pedals for Progress” to help cover shipping costs ($10 for bikes/sewing machines and $2 for soccer items).Tax deduction receipts are available.
