MONTGOMERY: Forum planned on economic crisis

MONTGOMERY — As reports of global economic conditions grow increasingly dire, the township Economic Development Commission will hold a forum next week to discuss the impact of the recession on the region.
The forum, titled “Understanding the Current Economy for the Business & the Individual,” will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 10 at the Princeton Elks Lodge on Route 518.
It will feature insights from Kevin Tylus, the central New Jersey regional president for PNC Financial Services Group; Bob Young, a PNC business banking executive; Stephen Reynolds, a wealth management professional; and senior executives from Henderson Realty, who will provide an overview of the real estate market.
”The current mortgage, banking and economic conditions on a national basis have been covered extensively. Our panel of experts will provide attendees with an opportunity to learn more about challenges being addressed on a more local and personal level,” Mr. Tylus said in a statement. “Education and knowledge gathering is critical for those seeking to navigate the current economic storm and position their businesses and personal finances for long-term success in the years ahead.”
Mayor Louise Wilson applauded the commission for organizing the event.
”In these very challenging times, it’s important to pull together and explore every possible way to support not only our residents but also our businesses,” she said in a statement. “Providing information and insight is one way, and listening carefully is another. I look forward to an interesting and productive session.”
The forum is free and is sponsored by PNC and supported by Amboy Bank, the Princeton Elks Lodge and the Somerset County Business Partnership. Copies of the recent results of the Montgomery Business Retention Survey performed by the partnership will be available. Refreshments will be served.
A courtesy RSVP is requested to the commission at 908-359-7007 or [email protected].
