TRENTON — Monday’s snowstorm prompted Gov. Jon Corzine to extend by two days the deadline for candidates to throw their hats in the ring for election to local school boards elections from this last Monday until Wednesday.
As of press time Tuesday, Robbinsville, Upper Freehold and Plumsted were still assembling lists of candidates for the April 21 election.
So far, Steve Gagliardi had announced his candidacy for the Upper Freehold Board of Education.
In Plumsted, incumbent board President Joanna Barlow had filed along with newcomers Rick Roach and Robin Witkowski for three available seats.
In Millstone, there were four reported candidates, including board president Thomas Foley, for the three-
year full term, and one candidate for a two-year unexpired term.
In addition to Mr. Foley, newcomers John Pearson, Patrick Whalen and Amy Jacobson had filed to run for the three-year seats while incumbent Salvatore Casale had filed for the two-year unexpired term.
