Allaire celebration to feature concert

Three Pints Shy, a traditional Irish folk music band based in New York, will make its fourth appearance at the Historic Village at Allaire State Park, Route 524, Wall Township, on March 13-14.

Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. both nights in the Allaire chapel. Advance ticket purchase is required as seats are limited. Last year’s performances were sold out.

Three Pints Shy will perform traditional and new Irish pub music as part of the St. Patrick’s Day celebration at the park, which will begin with an 1830s St. Patrick’s Day celebration at Allaire Village at 1 p.m. March 8.

The St. Patrick’s Day celebration will feature a recreation of an 1830s St. Patrick’s Day at 1 p.m. in the Allaire chapel, with a brief commemorative service in honor of Ireland’s patron saint.

Visitors will then witness a re-enactment of how anti-Irish Americans expressed displeasure about the Irish coming to America. Other activities will include storytelling, hearth cooking and stove-top cooking demonstrations.

The Historic Village at Allaire is in Allaire State Park. This event is sponsored and run by the Historic Village at Allaire and is a fundraising event. Tickets for the concert are $15 per person and are available by calling 732-919-3500.
