Area residents, most of them incumbents, filed by the Monday deadline to run for all but one of the 14 open seats on area school boards. Voters will choose school board candidates in the April 21 election.
As of Monday, no one had filed for the Lambertville Public School board seat (three-year term) now held by Karen Conlon.
However, today (Wednesday), after press time, John Woznicki, of Jean Street, Lambertville, filed his petition as a candidate for a three-year term.
As of now, all candidate slots for the April 21 election are filled.
The filing deadline was changed to 4 p.m. today (Wednesday) by Gov. Jon S. Corzine’s Tuesday executive order. The governor made the change to accommodate those who might not have been able to file petitions on Monday because of the snowstorm.
For Lambertville Public School’s board, three seats are open, each for a term of three years. Two incumbents filed for two of those seats. They are Derek Roseman, of Delevan Street, and Grant Miller, of Clinton Street.
Mr. Woznicki now is a candidate for the third three-year term.
For the one-year unexpired term, incumbent Craig Voorhees, of South Franklin Street, filed.
For the four seats available on the South Hunterdon Regional High School Board of Education, four incumbents filed.
For the two Lambertville (three-year terms) seats, they are Robert Campbell, of North Main Street, and Laurie Weinstein, of Delaware Avenue. They will run unopposed on April 21.
For the one West Amwell Township seat (three-year term), the sole candidate is Boyd Hartpence, of Hunter Road.
For the one Stockton seat (one-year unexpired term), the only candidate is Thomas Hendricks, of Wilson Drive.
For West Amwell Township Elementary School’s board, three three-year terms and one unexpired term are up for grabs.
For the three-year terms, the candidates are: incumbent Cynthia Magill, of Route 179; incumbent Peter Gasparro, of Surrey Lane; and John Dupuis, of Hewitt Road.
The candidate for an unexpired term (ends 2010) is Teresa Romano, of Melody Lane.
All candidates will be running unopposed on April. 21.
For Stockton Public School’s board, candidates for the two seats (three-year terms) are: incumbent James Gallagher, of South Main Street; and Atiera Abatemarco Ransavage, of South Main Street.
They will run unopposed on April 21.
