Cardiac Catheterization Lab Advances Emergency Care at Capital Health

By Jason Stacchini
TRENTON, NJ—Capital Health recently announced the re-opening of its Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Capital Health’s Mercer campus, located at 446 Bellevue Avenue in Trenton.
On Friday, February 27, Capital Health Administration, Dr. David Drucker, medical director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, and members of the medical and clinical staff took part in an official ribbon cutting for the new lab, which cost approximately $2 million and took six months to complete.
The new lab features an advanced digital imaging system that allows physicians to better visualize stent placements in arteries throughout the heart.
Images taken by the new system will be stored using Capital Health’s Xcelera or PACS (Picture Archiving Communications System), a filmless method of storing heart and radiology images. Physicians at all Capital Health facilities can now read these digital images on-site and remotely while using the images to consult with a patient’s primary physician without delaying treatment.
