Friends will hold benefit for Red Bank man

The friends and family of John McMahon will host an event to benefit the Red Bank resident on March 29 at the Windansea Restaurant, 56 Shrewsbury Ave. Highlands, from 2- 6 p.m. There will be live music by Projex, a five-course buffet, gift and silent auctions and more.

“Dazzle” of Dana Dazzel Productions will be on hand for face painting and tattoos for the children.

McMahon, 51, was raised in Atlantic Highlands. He is an advertising executive and a graduate of Red Bank Catholic High School, Mount St. Mary’s College.

He has two sons, Cole, 9, and Jack, 10.

Right after McMahon lost his job (due to downsizing) in November 2008, he was diagnosed with stage four colorectal cancer during the week of Thanksgiving.

The cancer was subsequently found to have spread to his pelvic lymph nodes and both lungs. At this time, the tumors are inoperable and he is enduring an aggressive protocol of chemotherapy treatment, according to a press release.

The cost to attend the March 29 fundraiser is $45 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. For more information and tickets, call 732-671-7995. RSVP by March 20.

Auction items include New Jersey Devils tickets; one week in St. Maarten (five-bedroom home with pool); autographed scripts and photos from “Law and Order,” “Law and Order SVU” and other celebrities; VIP tickets and backstage tour to the Rachel Ray show; tickets to “Live with Regis and Kelly”; foursomes at numerous golf clubs; tickets to Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus; jewelry; and more.
