Police said a door was shattered at the Countryside Food Mart at the Manors Corner Shopping Center on Lawrenceville-Pennington Road overnight on March 1.
A deliveryman told police that when he arrived at the store at 2:28 a.m., he heard the audible burglar alarm and noticed the front door glass was shattered. The police searched the store, but nothing was reported missing.
Two 15-year-old Trenton boys were charged with shoplifting for taking clothing worth a combined $61.50 from Macy’s at the Quaker Bridge Mall at 7:09 p.m. Feb. 28, after a store loss prevention officer saw them pick up the clothing and conceal it inside shopping bags, police said. The boys were released to their guardians’ custody.
A vandal slashed two tires on the driver’s side of a 2004 Toyota and also stole the rear license plate from a car belonging to a Hamilton Township resident while the car was parked in Lot D at the Quaker Bridge Mall between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Feb. 28, police said.
A Joyner Court resident reported the theft of his personal GPS navigation system, valued at $199, from a Mercer County-owned Jeep assigned to him by the county while it was parked outside his home between 5:30 p.m. Feb. 26 and 8 a.m. Feb. 27, police said. There were no signs of forced entry into the Jeep.
A thief took a GPS navigation system, a digital camera and assorted compact discs worth a combined $540 from a car belonging to an O’Neill Court resident while the car was parked in front of the victim’s residence between 9:50 p.m. Feb. 25 and 6:30 a.m. Feb. 26, police said. The thief smashed the passenger side front window to gain entry.
An employee of the Signature store at the Quaker Bridge Mall reported the theft of her personal laptop computer, valued at $650, from the counter in the store between 6:15 p.m. and 6:20 p.m. Feb. 25, police said. The victim told police she left the laptop on the counter for a few minutes while she went to the back of the store.
Melvin Joynes, 40, of North Clinton Avenue in Trenton, was charged with shoplifting after a Pearle Vision employee allegedly saw him pick up a Prada eyeglass frame, valued at $265, and conceal it in his hand at 4:15 p.m. Feb. 25, police said. The store is located in the Quaker Bridge Mall. He was taken to the Mercer County Corrections Center on $2,500 bail.
Narcisa Rivas, 45, of Dayton Street in Trenton, was charged with shoplifting, tampering with public records and hindering apprehension after a J.C. Penney department store loss prevention officer allegedly saw her conceal clothing and jewelry worth a combined $94 at 6:05 p.m. Feb. 24, police said.
The loss prevention officer saw Ms. Rivas pick up the items and enter a fitting room, police said. She emerged empty-handed, but when the loss prevention officer checked the fitting room, the items were not there, police said. When she was stopped, she was wearing the shirt and had concealed the jewelry in her handbag, police said.
She was charged with hindering apprehension for giving police a false name and with tampering with public records for signing a New Jersey State Fingerprint card with a false name. She was taken to the Mercer County Corrections Center on $2,500 bail.
