Jordan M. Crespo, 18, of Huff Avenue, was charged with underage possession of alcohol at 7:26 p.m. Feb. 23 after police allegedly observed him leaving a Roosevelt Avenue residence while holding a beer.
After charging Mr. Crespo, officers entered the residence to respond to the noise complaint that brought them there initially.
Upon entering the apartment, officers charged Adam O. Wolcott, 18, of West Camplain Road, with providing alcohol to minors and maintaining a nuisance.
Marvin L. Oppie, 45, of South Main Street, was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia a glass pipe at 11:59 p.m. Feb. 23. Police reported smelling marijuana and seeing a glass pipe and a burned hand-rolled cigarette, believed to be marijuana, while executing a warrant on a resident.
Mr. Oppie, who was not involved in the warrant, was charged after allegedly admitting the substances were his. Mr. Oppie was released with a court summons after processing.
A Lincoln Avenue resident reported his truck was stolen from the Reading Cinema parking lot, on North Main Street, at 11:17 a.m. Feb. 26. Police reported entering the 2001 Dodge Ram pickup truck, which contained numerous tools and an all-terrain vehicle, into the National Crime Information Center’s database. The truck and items are valued at $12,657.
The Newark Police Department later reported finding the truck Feb. 27. The other items were not recovered.
Tony Hudson, 23, of White Avenue, was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia a homemade pipe a glass jar filled with suspected marijuana and a metal grinder following a traffic stop on South Street. Mr. Hudson was released after processing.
A North First Avenue resident reported a broken window on her green Ford Taurus at 1:45 p.m. Feb. 28. Police determined someone broke the front passenger side window on the vehicle between 6 p.m. Feb. 27 and 1:30 p.m. Feb. 28 with two rocks found at the scene. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $100.
At 8:37 p.m. Feb. 28, a Knopf Street resident reported the theft of $3,500 cash, 15 miscellaneous keys and a flash memory drive from his vehicle. The resident believed the theft occurred between 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Feb. 25 while the car was parked and unlocked near Frank’s Pizza on North Main Street. The total value of the theft is $3,619.
At 10:45 p.m. Feb. 28, a patrol reported someone spray painted the side of the South Arlington Street pump house, writing “R.I.P. Kevin Happy” and other markings.
