Candidates for Princeton-area school board seats filed papers with their districts this week to run in the April 21 school election.
They had a few extra days to do so, thanks to Gov. Jon S. Corzine’s extension of the Monday deadline to Wednesday, as a result of the late winter snowstorm that shuttered area schools Monday, the original deadline for candidates.
In Princeton Borough, four candidates are vying for two seats on the Princeton Regional School Board.
Incumbent Rebecca Cox will run again while board member Joshua Leinsdorf declined to run for the seat he has held for nine years.
Charles Kalmbach, who has worked at Princeton University and serves as the vice chairman of the University Medical Center at Princeton board, will run for a borough seat.
Also seeking borough seats are Dudley Sipprelle, a former high school teacher and foreign service officer for the U.S. Department of State, and Lisa Crane, a Princeton Charter School trustee who also served as president of the Friends of the Princeton Charter School.
School board member Mia Cahill is running opposed for her own seat, the only township seat up for grabs in the April election.
Ms. Cahill is an attorney and Princeton High School graduate who is seeking her second term on the board.
At the Montgomery Township School District, three seats are up for election, and there will be three candidates on the ballot.
Incumbents Christine Ross, of Skillman, and Adelle Kirt, of Belle Mead, will be seeking reelection while Humberto Goldoni, of Skillman, is seeking his first term.
Board member Mark Conforti is not running for reelection.
At the West Windsor-Plainsboro School District, one West Windsor Township seat and two Plainsboro Township seats will be on the ballot.
Only incumbent candidate John Farrell, of Millbrook Drive, has petitioned for the West Windsor seat.
Four candidates have petitioned for the Plainsboro seats, including incumbents Anjani Gharpure, of Blossom Hill Drive, and Anthony Fleres, of Mifflin Court. They will run against newcomers Todd Hochman, of Daisy Court, and Shipra Mitra, of Mahogany Court.
