EAST WINDSOR: Police Beat

    A 17-year-old male was charged Feb. 25 with possession of marijuana under 50 grams.
    Police said an officer saw the boy sitting in a parked car outside the Windsor Commons Complex at 1 a.m. and detected the odor of burning marijuana. A search discovered a plastic baggie of marijuana in his pants pocket, police said.
    He also was charged with possession of narcotic paraphernalia.

    The Party Fair store was reportedly burglarized between 11:20 p.m. Feb. 24 and 9 a.m. Feb. 25. The store reported that a case containing scratch-off lottery cards — valued in excess of $2,600 — were taken and that the door had to be replaced at a cost of $1,700.

    A female resident of the W building on Avon Drive reported that she saw a man standing outside and looking at her through her bedroom window at 9:55 p.m. Feb 25. She reported that the man fled on foot toward the Twin Rivers tunnel. She described him as having dark hair and wearing light color pants and a dark jacket.

    The Pickwick Village Store was reportedly burglarized at 1:55 a.m. Feb. 27.
    Police said officers responded to a burglar alarm and discovered the front door glass was shattered and numerous New Jersey Lottery scratch-off cards were stolen. The store reported that the cards were valued in excess of $3,000; that $200 in cash also was stolen; and that the door was replaced at a cost of $680.

    George Scirocco, 43, of Hightstown, was charged Feb. 28 with driving while intoxicated and several drug-related offenses.
    Police said an officer saw Mr. Scirocco make an illegal left turn onto Route 130 from Hickory Corner Road, and detected the odor of burnt marijuana after pulling him over. A search of the vehicle revealed a plastic bag of marijuana and several different prescription medications, police said.
    He also was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams, possession of narcotic paraphernalia, being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, improper use of prescription legend drugs, possession of a CDS in an unintended container, reckless driving, careless driving, improper turn, and CDS in a motor vehicle.

    Raghav Dahiya, 18, of Winchester Drive, was charged Feb. 28 with theft and shoplifting.
    Police said Mr. Dahiya was arrested following an investigation by the TJ Maxx loss-prevention staff. The TJ Maxx investigation found that Mr. Dahiya, an employee of the store, had stolen $7,417.68 in cash from the register and an electric razor valued at $39.99 between Dec. 21 and Feb. 28, police reported.

    The owner of a white Honda Odyssey reported that her vehicle had been burglarized around 1:35 a.m. March 1.
    The owner said the vehicle was parked on Covington Drive when she noticed a black male, about 5-feet, 6-inches tall, wearing baggy jeans, a white knit hat and a black puffy jacket had opened an unlocked door on her car and was standing near it. The victim said she asked the victim what he was doing, and he fled on foot and was last seen near Bennington Drive. Nothing was reported stolen.

    The owner of a black 2005 Ford 500 reported that the vehicle’s front windshield was shattered between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday while parked on Avon Drive. The owner said the replacement cost was $900.
