A Bridgewater resident was arrested Thursday in the area of Sixth Street in Flagtown as part of a month-long narcotics investigation that led to the confiscation of seven packaged plastic bags of cocaine from his vehicle.
Anthony Rodriguez, 28, was charged with third-degree possession of cocaine and fourth-degree child abuse after police received information that he would be in the Flagtown section of town with the cocaine.
According to Somerset County Prosecutor Wayne Forrest, the Organized Crime and Narcotics Task Force, with members of the township police department and the K-9 Unit, established surveillance at Sixth Street at about 4 p.m. Mr. Forrest said police observed Mr. Rodriguez driving in the area with his 2-year-old child.
Mr. Rodriguez was taken into custody after the cocaine was found in his vehicle. According to Mr. Forrest, the cocaine has a street value of approximately $1,500.
Mr. Rodriguez was transported to Somerset County Jail, with bail set at $20,000.
