Foresters Visit Fernbrook Farms

Maryann Hutson
Fernbrook Farms Education Center invites you to find out how much a forest is worth on Saturday, March 21. This program is open to the public and is suitable for the entire family.
Starting at 10:00 am, families will find out how professional foresters determine values of trees and forests. In the Fernbrook forest, participants will learn how to use tools of the trade that help judge height and age without harming trees. The highlight of the program will be watching logs being milled into useable lumber right here on the farm.
Larry Kuser, the third generation owner of Fernbrook Farms, says his idea is to use “hands-on experiences to teach visitors environmental stewardship in programs that are innovative, educational and most important of all, fun for people of all ages.”
Centrally located near Bordentown, Fernbrook Farms is easily accessible from Interstates 195 and 295, US Routes 206 and 130 and the NJ Turnpike at 146 Georgetown Road. Admission for this program is free however advance registration is required by Wednesday, March 18. To register or for additional information call (609) 298-4028.
