A Flushing, N.Y., resident was charged Friday with engaging in prostitution after a two-month investigation into the working of JK Acupressure, a purported massage parlor, on Homestead Road.
Mingyu Xu, 43, was arrested by the Somerset County prosecutor’s office’s Organized Crime and Narcotics Task Force, in conjunction with the Hillsborough Township Police Department, after several Hillsborough residents registered complaints about the suspected brothel being run out of the business.
According to Somerset County Prosecutor Wayne Forrest, an undercover detective entered JK Acupressure, and was approached by Ms. Xu, who propositioned him for a sexual act in exchange for money.
Ms. Xu was then taken into custody.
Mr. Forrest said Hillsborough Township code enforcement investigators also responded to the business to conduct a separate investigation concerning violations of the township code.
Ms. Xu was processed and released on her own recognizance.
