MILLSTONE — The Township Council will make its decision on the rejected fire district budget at its meeting Wednesday, according to Mayor Nancy Grbelja.
Deputy Mayor Bob Kinsey and Committeeman Michael Kuczinski, the township’s liaison to the Fire Department, are taking another look at the proposal, which would have appropriated $58,951 over the 4 percent tax levy cap, that voters defeated 175-102, Mayor Grbelja said.
Millstone Fire District 1’s $1.84 million budget would have raised the fire tax from 8.6 cents to 9.94 cents per $100 of assessed value. The increase would have meant the tax bill of an owner of a house assessed at the township’s $399,924 average would rise to $397.52 or about $54 more than last year.
