Denney announces candidacy in Bordentown

Larry Denney of Bordentown City
To the editor:
My name is Larry Denney and I would like to introduce myself and publicly announce my candidacy for Bordentown City Commissioner in the upcoming May election.
I have lived in Bordentown for over 43 years and have been a public servant for the State of New Jersey for over 40 years as a business manager. I have also owned and operated Denney’s Tax Service for 37 years. I was educated at Burlington County College, Rider University and the College of New Jersey.
My duties as a business manager have afforded me a variety of experience that I will utilize if elected. I manage the fiscal and support areas of two correctional facilities, manage the budget of the water and sewer plants and the laundry facilities for the Department of Corrections, and also work in liaison with several union groups, namely the FOP and PBA. I am knowledgeable in areas of State Legislation, applications for grants and the inner workings of state and local government. The budgets I manage for the state are over $86 million dollars per year and over the last two years, I was able to reduce the overall budgets by $3 million. That is a direct savings to the taxpayer of New Jersey.
In today’s touch economic times a fiscally minded businessperson is a necessity to keep a budget manageable. I feel that I am that person to bring this to Bordentown City.
I believe that you should go to the community for ideas and solutions for consideration. A good planner and leader is of that mind. Recently, I had the esteemed pleasure to chair the 325th Anniversary Committee. Under my leadership and as a committee, we raised over $80,000 for various events throughout the year and had a surplus of funds totaling $27,000 at the end of the festivities, all of which has been invested for the 350th Anniversary.
My dedication to this community is insurmountable. My wife, Janet, was born and raised here. We both love this city very much. I hope to be able to give back to this city and community that has supported me throughout the years and see it through these tough times.
Vote for Larry Denney on May 12!
