Beatles’ songs fill show

MARLBORO — Classic songs by the Beatles will come to life onstage in a collaborative effort between the Marlboro Community Players and the @CT! Theater Company.

“A Day in the Life” will be performed at the Marlboro Middle School, Route 520, Marlboro, on March 14 at 8 p.m. and March 15 at 3 p.m. Tickets are available online at www.marlboroplayers.com. Tickets are $16 for students and senior citizens and $18 for adults. An additional $2 per ticket will be charged for tickets purchased at the door.

Marlboro Community Players board secretary Alan Burkholz said the theater group is excited to be performing again after a long hiatus. The two groups are working together in order to raise funds to put on future shows.

“A Day in the Life” takes place in a quaint restaurant where familiar Beatles characters come to life and tell their heartfelt stories in a rock-opera style. McKenzie, Lucy Diamond, Sgt. Pepper, Eleanor Rigby, Prudence and the Hendersons are all enjoying dinner at their favorite restaurant. The restaurant owner guides the audience on a musical journey with the help of his staff.

The lyrics and music of John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison set the pace of the story with songs such as “Help,” “A Hard Day’s Night,” “Yesterday,” “While My Guitar Gently Weeps,” “All My Loving,” “I Want to Hold Your Hand,” “Let It Be,” “Hello, Goodbye,” “The Long and Winding Road,” “Here Comes the Sun,” “Come Together” and more.

Irwin Hahn of Jackson and Dan Davidson of Freehold, both of whom are active members of the @CT Theater Company, wrote “A Day in the Life.” The show has been performed around the area during the past two years as a fundraiser for different causes. This is expected to be the show’s final run in the area.
