LAWRENCE: Heritage Village sets open house

By Lea Kahn, Staff Writer
The Heritage Village age-restricted affordable housing development at 1970 Brunswick Pike is holding an open house from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday for prospective renters.
The 64-unit rental apartment development is located on the site of the former Trent Motel. There are 52 one-bedroom apartments that rent for $675 per month, and 12 two-bedroom apartments that rent for $825.
To be eligible to rent, a one-person household may not earn more than $29,598. A two-person household’s maximum income is $33,826 and a three-person household cannot earn more than $38,055. The development is aimed at seniors who are at least 55 years old.
Lawrence Township acquired the Trent Motel site and two adjacent parcels between 2002 and 2003 for a combined $2.3 million. The township demolished the buildings and then interviewed prospective developers for the site.
The township chose Community Investment Strategies to handle the residential portion of the development on the upper two floors of the three-story building, and The Eagle Group to handle the 7,000 square feet of retail space on the ground floor. The developers purchased the land from the township for $500,000.
