LAWRENCE: Program set at Adath Israel

Hebrew College’s “Taste of Me’ah” will be held at 7 p.m. March 17 at Adath Israel Congregation, 1958 Lawrenceville Road.
Learn about the Me’ah program, an intensive adult Jewish learning experience, beginning its second two-year cycle this fall. This program, created at Boston’s Hebrew College, approaches Jewish history and Jewish thought through an intelligent and sophisticated conversation with core texts. This conversation is guided by university faculty who lead the study of four central periods in Jewish history: biblical, rabbinic, medieval and modern.
For registration and additional information, contact Jackie Goldberg at 646-472-5390 or [email protected].
Adath Israel Congregation will offer three major Holocaust educational events that are open to the public this spring.
The following events are part of a yearly Holocaust Education program established by a bequest from Dr. Arthur and Esther Sacks-Wilner, continuing an ongoing mission at Adath Israel to keep Holocaust studies meaningful, vibrant and relevant.
The first event will be a trip to the Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York City on Monday, March 16 from 9:15 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost will be $75 per person including coach, admission, and lunch.
Next, on Monday, March 22, Adath will host a Lunch and Lecture which will welcome Stanlee J. Stahl, Executive Vice President of The Jewish foundation for the Righteous, who will present The Legacy of the Rescuers: Stories, memories anecdotes and photos.
This lecture will explore the role and plight of those who courageously hid Jews during the Holocaust. The 1 p.m. Luncheon will cost $25 per person and the 2 p.m. lecture will be free to the public.
The final event, a Yom HoShoah Observance, will be held Sunday, April 19, at 3 p.m., featuring Dr. Ben William, expert in 20th Century European history, discussing the “Denunciation in France During the Holocaust.”
This community service will be jointly sponsored by Adath Israel Congregation, the Julius and Dorothy Koppelman Holocaust/Genocide Resource Center at Rider University and the Sacks-Wilner Holocaust Education Program.
