Hunterdon Rotary Clubs of Flemington, North Hunterdon, Clinton Sunrise, Lambertville-New Hope, and Whitehouse awarded the Best Soup in Hunterdon County to the Milford Oyster House, Milford.
The Gold Medal winning soup was “Crab and White Asparagus.” Milford Oyster House will be able to display the Souper Bowl trophy for a year until the next competition in 2010.
The Silver Medal winning soup was “Seafood Chowder,” presented by the Lambertville Station in Lambertville. The Bronze Medal winning soup was “Chicken AnDouille with Sausage Gumbo,” presented by Cook To Order in Flemington.
The two student entries tied for first place. Nick Bolles from South Hunterdon Regional High School presented “Maryland Crab” soup and Javier Morales from Hunterdon Central Regional High School presented “Shrimp Bisque.”
Both students attend Hunterdon County Polytech Culinary Arts programs. They were each awarded $150 in Visa gift cards that were sponsored by LoFatt Chow Restaurants of Hunterdon County, Flemington Car and Truck Country, and TD Bank.
This annual event is a community involvement event by the Rotary Clubs of Hunterdon County. The intention is to fight Hunger in Hunterdon with fellowship and great food. All proceeds will be distributed to the Food Pantries of Hunterdon County.
