Daniel M. Ayad, 19, of Clarksburg, was charged March 5 with possession of a controlled dangerous substance less than 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police said Mr. Ayad was stopped at 10:03 a.m. at Route 526 and West Manor Way after a patrolman saw his car drift several times over the white fog line on the road shoulder. The patrolman reported that he noticed the strong odor of marijuana when he approached Mr. Ayad’s car, then saw a roach — a partially burnt marijuana cigarette — in the ash tray, as well as an apple that allegedly had been used a makeshift pipe, with a hole for marijuana and a hole for inhaling.
Police were investigating a burglary/theft that reportedly occurred between 8:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Friday from a porch on Garden Street. The victim told police someone stole four plastic garbage bags containing two bed comforters and two sleeping bags, valued at $1,800.
