SERGEANTSVILLE — Volunteer firefighters again will get a boost from the proceeds of an annual flea market.
The ninth annual Hunting and Fishing Flea Market will be held March 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Sergeantsville firehouse on Route 523 near the Route 604 intersection.
All proceeds will go toward the purchase of firefighting equipment for the Sergeantsville Volunteer Fire Company, according to organizer Tom Marota.
In addition to the hunting and fishing vendors and the many other types of vendors who attend the market each year, for the first time organizers are looking for donations of used or unwanted fishing tackle and hunting gear from the public. The donations will be sold at a bargain table, Mr. Marota said.
To make a donation, organizers are asking donors to phone Mr. Marota before Friday.
”Also, a brand new rod and reel with a value of $350 will be raffled off, along with 50-50 tickets and door prizes for children under 14,” Mr. Marota said.
Last year, the event drew more than 800 people.
The flea market will feature 90 vendor tables. Available goods will include new and used tackle.
”Most of the tackle is custom-made by our vendors, who offer advice and technical information to catch more fish,” Mr. Marota said. “Not only are there tackle vendors, but a variety of archery supplies, boating equipment, deep sea and freshwater, outdoors art, game calls and sportswear. Almost anything can be found for the sportsman and his family.”
All tables will be indoors, allowing the flea market to be held rain or shine. Boats and other large equipment and vehicles will be featured outdoors. Refreshments will be available.
Admission is $3. Children under 14 are admitted free.
