Faith Bahadurian, food writer for Packet Publications, will talk about her passion for ethnic cuisines at the Mary Jacobs Library, 64 Washington St., Rocky Hill, on Wednesday, March 18 at 8 p.m. Her talk is titled “A Full Plate: My Life as a (Slow) Foodie.”
Ms. Bahadurian, as the daughter of an Armenian father and an Italian mother, became familiar with diverse cuisines early in life. She developed a passion for exploring ethnic cuisines as she moved around the country.
A self-taught cook, she pursued her interest in the varied world of foods wherever she lived, from following Julia Child around Savenor’s Market in Cambridge, Mass., to volunteering at the Aspen Food and Wine Classic in Colorado.
Upon returning to her native Princeton in the 1980, Ms, Bahadurian began gardening so that she could continue to enjoy favorite foods from the American Southwest.
She has participated in Taste of the Nation, an annual hunger- relief fundraiser that takes place throughout the U.S. each spring, chairing the event in Princeton in 2000 and 2001.
Additionally, Ms. Bahadurian has taught ethnic cooking at the Princeton Adult School, currently writes a biweekly recipe column and monthly restaurant review for PacketPublications in addition to NJ SPICE, her ethnic and casual food blog on www.centraljersey.com. She is “a card-carrying member” of Slow Food, the international organization committed to preserving traditional foods and culinary culture.
The program is sponsored by The Friends of the Mary Jacobs Library. Friends of the Library may join Ms. Bahadurian for wine and refreshments at 7 p.m. The event will be open to the public at 8.
