Princeton Township
Alexander Road was closed until 4 p.m. Monday between Route 1 and Faculty Road after an early morning traffic accident required the replacement of a telephone pole. Dennis Schwarz, 62, of 34 Waywayanda Road, was charged with failing to observe a red light at the intersection of Alexander and Faculty at 5:59 a.m after his 2003 Dodge 150 pick-up struck a 2007 Jeep Cherokee driven by Theresa Olsen, 52, of 73 Chelsea Court. Ms. Olsen was making a left turn from Faculty onto Alexander when her vehicle was struck and forced into the telephone pole. Mr. Schwarz reported suffering a head abrasion; Ms. Olsen reported no injuries.
Lauren H. Bronhard, 38, of Ringoes, was arrested after a records search revealed a $200 warrant out of Weehawkin Township during a traffic stop on Cherry Valley Road at 10 p.m. Friday, police said.
A 21-year-old man was assaulted by three males at 9:15 p.m. Sunday as he rode his bicycle down Witherspoon Street. The victim said he was hit in the face with an object and robbed of some possessions. The case is under investigation.
West Windsor
Anibal Lopez-Gomez, 57, of Trenton was charged with DWI after a traffic stop Saturday night on southbound Route 1. Police received a report of an erratic driver on Route 1. The vehicle was described as a black 2008 Ford F-150 pickup truck. An officer located and began following the vehicle, and observed the truck swerve in and out of the lane several times, nearly striking other vehicles, police said. The truck was stopped on Route 1 at US 95, and the driver identified himself as Anibal Lopez-Gomez, police said. While speaking with him, an officer detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, police said. Mr. Lopez-Gomez was determined to be intoxicated after several field sobriety tests, police said. A search of the vehicle yielded an open container of Guinness beer, police said. He was arrested and charged with DWI, reckless driving, failure to maintain a lane, and open container. He was released pending a court date.
Malvern Blackwell, 65, of Stroudsburg, Pa., was charged with DWI after a traffic stop just after midnight Saturday on northbound Route 1 and Quakerbridge Road. Mr. Blackwell was stopped for failing to maintain his lane while driving, police said. A sobriety test revealed he was under the influence, police said. He was issued summonses for DWI, reckless driving, obstructing traffic and failure to maintain lane.
Emily Silbergeld, 28, of Princeton, was charged with DWI after a single-car motor vehicle crash early Monday morning on southbound Route 1 and Nassau Park Boulevard. After the crash, she was found to be intoxicated, police said. She was charged with DWI and additional motor vehicle charges, which were unavailable at press time.
A car was reported stolen Sunday evening from the Macaroni Grill parking lot at Princeton MarketFair. A 2004 two-door red Acura, valued at $17,000 was stolen between 6 and 7:30 p.m. There was no evidence at the scene, police said.
Michael Cohen and Joshua Weisberg, both 21-year-old Plainsboro residents, were arrested after a traffic stop Sunday evening at Cranbury Road and Yaeger Road. They were charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Two girls from Trenton, age 12 and 14, were charged with shoplifting Sunday evening from the Kohl’s on Nassau Park Boulevard. They are accused of hiding $1,275.90 worth of clothing in a baby stroller and attempting to exit the store.
Maribel Peralto, 32, of Trenton, was charged with shoplifting Sunday evening from Wal-Mart on Nassau Park Boulevard. She is accused of concealing $56.79 worth of beauty products inside two separate bags and attempting to leave the store.
Police responded to a burglar alarm last week at the AT&T Global Wireless store on northbound Route 1 and Washington Road. Around 10 p.m. March 9, police found the side door kicked open in an attempt to gain access to the main area of the store. The intruder fled after the alarm went off, before police arrived. Nothing appeared to have been stolen.
Dominique Martin, 19, of Trenton, was charged with shoplifting last Tuesday from Wal-Mart on Nassau Park Boulevard. She is accused of concealing $108 worth of merchandise in a large diaper bag and exiting the store without making payment.
Jason Boyle, 21, of Ewing, was arrested after he unlawfully entered his mother’s home on Bearbrook Road Thursday morning, police said. He used a knife to open a door leading to the garage, police said. The entry of the home was in violation of a restraining order. He was charged with burglary, possession of burglar tools, and violation of a restraining order.
Montgomery
Timothy Rudderow, 22, of New Hope, Pa., was arrested after a traffic stop Wednesday afternoon on Route 518. He was pulled over for speeding and having a brake light out, police said. An officer observed suspected loose marijuana on the console, and a metal smoking pipe and bottle rockets were later found inside the vehicle, police said. Mr. Rudderow was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams, possession of a controlled and dangerous substance paraphernalia, and possession of fireworks. He was released pending a court date.
Eric Souto of Elderberry Court, Belle Mead, was arrested on drug charges Thursday after he was found to be under the influence by staff at Montgomery High School, police said. Investigation found Mr. Souto to be in possession of heroin and a syringe, police said. He was arrested and charged with narcotics possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police provided no further information about Mr. Souto.
Medhat Labib, 23, of Bronx, N.Y., was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams after a traffic stop Thursday afternoon. He was driving a car on Route 206 without proper inspection, police said. His vehicle was searched after marijuana was seen in plain view, and a burned marijuana cigar was found, police said. Mr. Labib was also issued motor vehicle tickets for failure to inspect and operating on a suspended license.
Plainsboro
Police received two unrelated reports of bicycle thefts on Saturday. A 36-year-old Fox Run Drive resident reported a purple women’s Roadmaster bicycle, valued at $69, missing from the patio outside the residence. It was unlocked at the time of the theft. A 16-year-old Plainsboro Road resident reported a second bicycle stolen from a rack at the front entrance of West Windsor-Plainsboro High School North between 4:30 p.m. Thursday and 7 a.m. Friday. It was described as a metallic blue Trek 800 men’s mountain bike, valued at $700. The bike was not locked at the time of the theft.
Timothy McMichael, Spencer Reilly, and Michael Strasser, all 18-year-old Lawrenceville residents, were arrested after police responded to a report of three suspicious males who had just walked out of the woods into a car in the parking lot of the Princeton Alliance Church. Mr. McMichael, the driver of the car, was in possession of a flip knife, suspected marijuana and a smoking pipe, police said. He was charged with possession of a weapon, possession of a controlled and dangerous substance under 50 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled and dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. Mr. Straser and Mr. Reilly were charged with the use of a controlled and dangerous substance, police said. The three men were released pending a court date.
A resident of Sayre Drive reported a car theft that occurred between 10 p.m. Thursday and 6:30 a.m. Friday. The car, a black 2000 Honda Civic, was parked outside the victim’s residence and was locked at the time of the incident. The value of the car was estimated at $3,100. No items of value were in the vehicle, and the case is under investigation, police said.
A California resident reported a theft of a wallet March 8 from Homewood Suites on Route 1. The victim told police that she was in the dining room area between 10 and 11:30 a.m. and left her purse unattended while getting a cup of coffee. She returned to find the wallet missing. It contained her N.J. driver’s license, bank card, library card and a department store credit card. The case is under investigation.
A theft was reported from Bristol-Myers Squibb, 777 Scudders Mill Road, that occurred between 9 a.m. Oct. 31 and 1 p.m. Feb. 27. Investigation at the scene revealed that three Sony DCR Handycam video cameras were missing. Value of the stolen items was estimated at $771. The case is under investigation.
Four township residents and a juvenile face charges after an incident of aggravated assault involving brass knuckles early Monday morning on Aspen Drive. Four residents of Plainsboro and a resident of Red Bank were victims of the attack, which occurred while they were exiting a vehicle, police said. Matthew Sawma, 19, of Silvers Lane; Mikhail Lisitsa, 24, of Thoreau Drive; Aldo Saco, 18, of Quail Ridge Drive; and Arun Majumdar, 18, of Jersey City, were charged with aggravated assault. Mr. Majumdar was also charged with possession of a weapon. Mr. Lisitsa was also charged with obstruction and hindering apprehension. Police provided no further information on the circumstances of the incident.
A resident of Knight Drive reported an incident of criminal mischief at his home that occurred between 6:30 p.m. March 2 and 6 a.m. the next day. Someone entered the back yard of the victim’s residence and damaged a yard ornament. Tracks in the yard of footprints suggest two perpetrators were involved. The damaged item was a solar activated, black stemmed yard light, valued at $20.
