Restoration Project
    Thursday, March 19 — The Old City Hall Restoration Project is a group recently formed to fundraise and help pay for restorations to Bordentown City’s Old City Hall. Stations of Cross
    Fridays, March 20-April 3 — Stations of the Cross will be offered at 6 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, 130 Prince St., Bordentown. Following Stations of the Cross, please join us for a light supper and fellowship. Cost for the dinner is $10 for adults, $5 for children under 12, and free for children under 5. All are welcome. Mozart performance
    Saturday, March 21 — The Christ Church Choir with orchestra will perform Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Miserere” and “Vesperae Solennes de Confessore” at 8 p.m. at Christ Church, 124 Prince St., Bordentown. Pancake breakfast
    Sunday, March 22 — The Lend-A-Hand Society of the First Baptist Church, at the corner of Prince and Church Street, in Bordentown is sponsoring a pancake breakfast on March 22 from 8 to 10 a.m. There will be an abundance of pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, orange or apple juice, and coffee. Tickets are $6 for adults, $3.50 for children 5-12, and children under 5 are free. Tickets may be purchased at the door or by calling Ruth Heitzenroeder at 609-298-6872.
Stop smoking

Earth Talk
    Tuesday, March 24 — BCEC Earth Talk: screening of “Where Do the Children Play?” at 7 p.m. This one-hour documentary for public television examines how restrictive patterns of sprawl, congestion, and endless suburban development across America are impacting children’s mental and physical health and development. ‘South Pacific’
    Thursday, March 26 to Saturday, March 28 — “South Pacific” will be presented at the Bordentown Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. by the students of Bordentown Regional High School. Vera Bradley bingo
    Saturday, March 28 — The Jacobstown Volunteer Fire Co. Auxiliary will hold Vera Bradley bingo at the Jacobstown Fire House, 86 Chesterfield-Jacobstown Road (Route 528) with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. and the game starting at 7 p.m. Cost is $25 cash only, contact Cathy at 609-298-1169 for more information. Easter Breakfast
    Sunday, March 29 — Please join us for our annual “Breakfast with the Easter Bunny,” which will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Mary’s School, 30 Elizabeth St., Bordentown City. Tickets are $6 for 12 years, adults, $4 for age 4-12 years and free for 3-years and younger. Breakfast includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, hash browns, fruit and dessert. Mass for Healing
    Monday, March 30 — St. Mary Church in Bordentown is hosting a Mass for Healing celebrated by Father John Campoli of His Love Ministries at 7 p.m. Following the Mass will be individual prayer and Laying on of Hands for the sick. Chamber meeting
    Tuesday, March 31 – From 8 to 10 a.m., the Greater Bordentown Chapter of the Mercer Regional Chamber of Commerce, will hold a mayors’ breakfast with Mayor John Collom of Bordentown City, and Mayor Bill Morelli of Bordentown Township, for a discussion on “Economic Development in the Greater Bordentown Region.” Location: Olde York Country Club. Clothing drive
    St. Mary’s School in Bordentown is collecting wearable and usable clothing, shoes, fashion accessories – belts, handbags, etc., linens, toys, stuffed animals, baby carriages, playpens. Please put your clothing donations in a well-tied plastic garbage bag and hard toys in secured cardboard boxes. Shoes must be placed in a separate bag from the items mentioned above. Please drop your donations off at the back of the food pantry located at the right turn after you enter St. Mary’s church parking lot. Cats fundraiser
    Bordentown City Cats will hold its annual flea market fundraiser in early April. Anyone who wishes rent table space for the occasion should call Mak at 324-3896. Fee for tables is $20.

Historical program
    Wednesday, April 1 — The Bordentown Historical Society is pleased to present the first in a series of three monthly programs featuring local historic sites that make great family outings. “Alice Paul and Paulsdale” – Ronda Dimascio, president of the Alice Paul Institute, will speak about one of America’s most outstanding suffragists and political strategists and the preservation of the Paul family home in Mount Laurel, 7 p.m. at Friends Meeting House, 302 Farnsworth Ave. For more information, call 298-3779.
Theatre trip
    Saturday, April 4 —Shiloh Baptist Church, 104 ½ Elizabeth St., Bordentown City, will hold a trip to see “Behold the Lamb” at Millennium Theatre on April 4. Departure is at 8:45 a.m. sharp. Workshop
    Saturday, April 4 —PASE, a parent support group, will be hosting, as the guest of Florence Township, a behavioral workshop for parents and professionals in Florence Township. It is an all day workshop which will include refreshments/lunch.

Children’s plays
    Saturday, April 4 —The children’s theater production “The Short Tree and the Bird That Could Not Sing” will be performed at the Bordentown Performing Arts center at 2 p.m. Tickets are $6 and can be reserved on the theater’s Web site, www.bordentownpac.org or by calling 609-496-1452. Casino trip
    Sunday, April 5 — The Knights of Columbus No. 570 will sponsor a bus trip to the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City. A bus will leave from St. Mary’s church on Elizabeth Street in Bordentown City at 4:30 p.m. for a four-hour stay. The cost is $25 per person and each attendee will receive $30 slot play in Showboat. Evening of Cole Porter
    Saturday, April 18 — Bordentown City’s Old City Hall Restoration Project will hold a fundraising event titled, “An Evening of Cole Porter and Friends.” Come out and enjoy an evening of Cole Porter songs and show tunes by local professional vocalists Robert Violette and Sarah Blann. Crafts accompanied by piano virtuoso Bobbie Boulware. Both singers will entertain us with renditions of old favorites at 7:30 p.m. at Old City Hall, Crosswicks Stret.
    Parking is available at St. Mary’s Church parking lot. OCHRP will be raffling off two wonderful items. Nationally known local painter and illustrator, Al Barker, has donated a stunning oil painting of Old City Hall. Bike enthusiast Gary LaValle and local vendor Fred Reister of the Bicycle Pro Bike Shop have donated a new Giant Bolder Bicycle. Raffle tickets will be $1 each or six for $5. Tickets for “An Evening of Cole Porter” can be purchased for $25 at the following venues on Farnsworth Avenue: The Farnsworth Gallery, Silk and Tweed, Shoppe 202, Under the Moon Restaurant, from Assemblyman Joe Malone or by calling 609-298-6470 or 609-298-4332. Earth Day event

Earth Talk
    Tuesday, April 28 — The BCEC Earth Talk for April will include a screening of “The Greening of Southie” at 7:00 p.m, about Boston’s first LEED-certified residential green building. With its sloping grass roof and recycled materials, The Macallen Building seemed an odd addition to South Boston – “Southie” – a traditionallyworking-class neighborhood. Yet The Macallen not only won high marks for its sustainable design ideas and offered its diverse residents luxury features, its creation also spurred construction workers and environmentalists to think about the city of the future. Logo contest
    The Crosswicks-Doctors Creek Watershed Association (CDCWA) is opening its logo contest to the general public. The contest period will run through May 15, 2009. The Logo Selection Committee of the CDCWA will evaluate all submitted entries and announce the winning entry on June 15. The winner will be notified and a $50 prize will be awarded at the regular meeting of the CDCWA in September 2009. The CDCWA is a local non-profit that has as its mission to protect surface water quality, preserve historic sites and vistas, and create a network of land and water trails within the Crosswicks-Doctors Creek Watershed. Summer camp
    We’ll be “Powering Up” for God at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Monday, Aug. 11- Friday, Aug. 15 from 9-11:30 a.m. each day.
    Kids aged 3 (and potty trained) through rising sixth graders are invited to attend an action packed week of science based fun. There will be food, games, crafts, dramas, music and more. Pre-registration is strongly required due to space limitations.

Training group
    Interested in participating in group runs throughout beautiful northern Burlington County? A training group is now forming for various fall races. Whether you’re a beginner, building a base for marathons, preparing for a race of a shorter distance, or just want some company in your quest for fitness, join the group on Saturday and Sunday mornings as they explore the roads of Mansfield, Springfield, Chesterfield and any other fields they can find. Distances will vary, and all paces will be accommodated.

Cat volunteers needed
    Bordentown City Cats has collected eight adorable kittens from different sites around the city. They are ready for their new life in a loving home. Any responsible person or family is welcome to fill out an application.

    The group is also looking for volunteers to feed, trap, provide transportation to and from vet appointments, or be available once a month for cleanup at the adoption center at an area PetSmart store.
    In addition, the group is always looking for caring people to foster friendly cats and kittens until they are ready to be put up for adoption.
Volunteers needed
    The Mansfield Township Police Department is currently recruiting volunteers for a domestic violence response team. The team members will work in conjunction with the police to provide support, information and referral at the time of a domestic violence crisis.
    Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, have access to transportation, possess a valid drivers license, be willing to serve a minimum of four 12-hour shifts per month, and submit to background investigations, including fingerprinting. A 40-hour mandatory intensive training course, to be held over an eight-week period during evening and weekend hours is required and will be provided to successful applicants. An understanding of domestic violence issues is a plus, as is a bilingual capacity.

Volunteers needed
    Volunteers are needed to join the River’s Edge Domestic Violence Response Team. Participants will be called or paged by police to speak with a victim of domestic violence and provide them with options. Volunteers will receive 40 hours of initial training provided by Providence House of Burlington County.
    Volunteers must be 18 years or older and a resident of Florence, Burlington Township or Burlington City, and must have a valid N.J. drivers license, available transportation and no criminal history. They must be available for a minimum of two 12-hour shifts per month.
    Anyone interested can pick up an application at the Florence Township, Burlington Township or Burlington City police stations, or contact Patrolman Brian Boldizar at 609-499-3131.
WIC program
    The Bordentown County WIC (Women, Infants, Children) Program currently has a clinic in the Shiloh Baptist Church, Bordentown.
    The WIC is a federally funded supplemental nutrition program for pregnant and breastfeeding women, infants, and children under 5 years old. Eligibility for the program is based on income and nutritional and/or medical risk.
