Preserve is open!

Miles Arnott, executive director, Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve
There have been many distressing news reports recently about the closing of Washington Crossing Historic Park and related properties managed by the Pennsylvania Historic and Museum Commission (PHMC).
Unfortunately many people have mistakenly assumed that Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve will also be affected by the closings. Nothing could be further from the truth. The Preserve is open for business and we are looking forward to a magnificent spring season filled with beautiful wildflowers, inquisitive visitors and inspiring educational programs!
It is important to remember that, while the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania currently owns that land that comprises Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve, we are managed by the nonprofit Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve Association, Inc. As such we are a vibrant and thriving organization dedicated to education, native plant conservation and land stewardship. In fact, this year marks our 75th anniversary.
We here at Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve are saddened at the prospect of another major tourist attraction having to close its doors and we hope the issues at the Washington Crossing Historic Park can be resolved.
Regardless, we encourage local residents and tourists alike to discover Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve, where mind, heart and spirit bloom. Our Visitor Center is open seven days a week from 9 to 5. For more information, call us at (215) 862-2924 or visit our Web site www.bhwp.org.
