The Wrightstown Rotary meets every Thursday night at 6 p.m. at the Garden State Diner, corner of Routes 537 and 545. Each week brings a new speaker. On March 20, they will be holding a 50/50 night at Club Dix. The Rotary will be selling flowers for Mother’s Day. If you are interested in buying flowers or if you would like to become a member or see what the Rotary is all about, please feel free to attend one of these events. The Burlington County Library Bookmobile will be at the Springfield Municipal Building the following Thursday, March 26, from 3:30 – 4 p.m. For the entire schedule, please see the library Web site or pick up a schedule on the next bookmobile date.
The next Springfield Township Republican Club meeting is Wednesday, April 1, at 7:30 p.m. at the Garden State Diner, located at the intersections of county Routes 537 and 545. Visitors are welcome. Steven Lonegan, Chris Christy and Richard Merkt have been invited as guest speakers. A social hour will be held at the conclusion of the meeting. Tickets are hot! Only a few left! The NBC Band Boosters will hold its Annual Luncheon and Gift Auction on April 5th at Charley’s Other Brother, Route 537, Eastampton. Tickets will be $25 each and include a buffet lunch and one sheet of raffle tickets. Breakfast is served! Join your friends and neighbors at the Jacksonville Community Center every first Sunday, October through June for an all-you-can-eat breakfast. Cost is $7 per person. The Community Center is also available for social events. Call AnnMarie McMullen at 267-5884 to reserve.
The Springfield Recreation Committee is looking for new members interested in assisting with the youth sports program in our town. The committee meets every second Thursday of the month at 8 p.m. For more information, please call 723-2464.
Do you like working with children? Springfield Elementary School is now hiring substitute teachers, educational assistants, cafeteria, playground aides, bus aides, nurses, and custodians. The need is great for these positions. The rate of pay for a substitute nurse and teacher have been raised recently. Please contact the school for more information at 723-2479.
All Senior Citizens of Springfield Township are invited to join the Mansfield Area Senior Citizens. We meet the second and fourth Tuesday of every month except July and August. We will be meeting at the Jacksonville Community Center in Jacksonville (next to the firehouse) at noon. Bring your own sandwich or light lunch, dessert and beverage will be provided. Don’t forget to keep saving your General Mills Box Tops for Education box tops, printer ink cartridges and old cell phones. The Springfield Home & School Association collects these items and recycles them as a fundraiser. A box is located in the office for the box tops and one is in the hall outside of the main office for the ink cartridges and cell phones. Please help the kids of Springfield Elementary and drop your items off all year long. For more information call the school at 609-723-2479.
The Springfield Township Elementary School is still accepting kindergarten registration for the 2008-2009 school year. Attention all volunteers! Have you wanted to become more involved in your community? Consider becoming a volunteer firefighter with your local fire company. Men and women are encouraged to apply and training is provided. Do you have a teen that may be interested in volunteering? Call and ask about the Junior Firefighter program.
