SPRINGFIELD: County to break ground on fairgrounds

Burlington County will break ground for the new year-round County Fairgrounds and park on the 640-acre open space site off Route 206 in Springfield Township Wednesday, March 25, at 2 p.m.
The former Sod Farm, located just south of the Columbus Market on Jacksonville-Jobstown Road, will be a public recreational site with facilities for agricultural and livestock events, as well as food and music festivals and trails for hiking and biking to link with a planned regional trail network.
Local groups will participate in the event such as 4-H, Future Farmers of America BCIT students, the Burlington County Kennel Club, Farm Fair organizers and square dancers. The rain or shine event includes live music, refreshments, and representative exhibits of show dogs, horses, alpacas, sheep and antique farm equipment.
The entrance is located on Jacksonville-Jobstown Road across from the Burlington County Soil Conservation District building and the WaWa at the intersection of Route 206. A sign will be posted at the entrance.
