Cheesman supporter addresses voters

Valerie Sassaman of Bordentown City
To the editor:
I grew up in the Bordentown area and moved into Bordentown City 14 years ago. My husband and I are both so very proud of our city, our restaurants, stores, art galleries, and the new library. Bordentown has come a long way and I know that could not have happened without the dedication and management of our elected officials.
To ensure our city continues to progress, I am writing this letter in support of Heather Cheesman for the office of City Commissioner. I have worked with Heather on local fundraisers and know very well her dedication to quality of life, family, friends and to the community of Bordentown City.
Heather has the capacity and openness required for the development and growth of our city. She has the integrity to demonstrate sound ethical practices, magnanimity to give credit where credit is due and possess the insight to foresee potential problems and take action.
Remember when casting your vote on May 12 that you are there to cast a vote for three candidates, there are three City Commissioner positions open. It is very important that you get to know your candidate and talk to them, ask about issues that are important to you and ask them to tell you about issues that are important to them. The large signs posted around town inform us to a name of a person who is a candidate for City Commissioner, but the name does not tell us what that candidate represents.
Over the past couple of years, I have read letters to this newspaper stating that our elected officials did not have an open-line of communication or they did not communicate enough information about a potential issue. If you do not interact with and question a potential candidate before they are elected, then why would you be surprised at a lack of communication after they are elected? Therefore, to learn more about Heather and who she is and how she will represent our city visit her webpage at http://Bordentowncity.org. Heather’s platform is “out there for the world to see” and she wants to hear what issues are important to you.
