Family gives thanks for support during illness

Nancy Morrow of Jacobstown
To the editor:
The family of Susan Spence would like to thank all of the residents and friends in Bordentown who made it possible for her to remain in her home in her beloved city of Bordentown during the past 10 years. Your many kindnesses and helpful acts are a real tribute to your community and are deeply and sincerely appreciated by her family. We especially thank her wonderful caregiver and friend, Mira.
Sue loved Bordentown and was very active in community events when she was well. She was particularly proud of the winter horse drawn wagon tours of the city, which she ran for many years. Her “rubber ducky” race for Habitat for Humanity and the azalea plantings at the park were two other favorite projects.
Sue passed away peacefully at the Samaritan Hospice at Virtua in Mount Holly on Feb. 28, 2009 after waging a long and courageous battle against her illness. Thank you again for making it possible for Sue to realize her dream to remain in her home and in her beloved Bordentown. God bless you all for making this happen.
We have established a scholarship fund in her name. Contributions to the Susan Spence Scholarship Fund may be sent to 16 Patty Drive, Wrightstown, NJ 08562 in care of Nancy Morrow.
