Come out on Sunday, March 29, at 7 p.m., for an evening of laughter and refreshments as comedian Gordon Douglas entertains you at the Wesley United Methodist Church, located at 24573 E. Main Street in Columbus. Gordon has entertained many people over the years performing on cruise ships and Las Vegas to name a few and now you can enjoy his show while supporting soldiers overseas.
The youth of the church are asking that you bring chapstick, eye drops, gum or mints for our soldiers. There is no cost, but a free will offering will be taken to help send DVDs to the soldiers along with other items. Any questions, please call Kathy Bassett, 298-2893.
The Crafts Creek Spring Hill Brook Watershed Assoc. will hold a meeting on Wednesday, April 1, at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Rutgers Eco Complex located at 1200 Florence Columbus Road. All interested are invited to attend.

The 71st Annual Field Day festivities will be held on Saturday, June 13. The parade will start at 1 p.m. followed by activities in the Municipal Park. This year, the theme for the parade is “Our Talented Town.” This is a talented town and hopefully, our residents and friends will share their many talents: dancing, singing, playing instruments, crafts, woodworking, cooking, needlecraft, photography, painting, etc. A talent show will be held in the park. Talents can be displayed on tables in the park. More information will be forthcoming for registration for the talent show as well as reserving tables to display talents. Now you have time to prepare for our big day.
Adults as well as youth are needed for planning and organizing the parade and the field activities. Please show your interest in your community by joining the Special Events Committee. The next meeting is Thursday, April 9, at the Municipal Building at 7 p.m. All are welcome. If you cannot attend but would like to share ideas or help in any way, please call 298-0542, extension 19.
The PTSC and FFA Chapters of Northern Burlington are doing a community service project and cleaning up litter from Mansfield Road East on Saturday, April 4, from 10 a.m. to noon. All interested community members and students are invited to help. Meet in the HS parking lot at 10 a.m.
The PTSC is sponsoring a spring/summer clothing and more drive again. It is early, but we wanted to get the word out early to save your clothing, linens, coats, towels, stuffed animals and shoes for our drive to be held late May. Put items in large trash bags and we will have a week for drop off. Look for more info to follow. All proceeds go towards our scholarship fund.
The Memorial Day Committee which in the past was a part of the Historical Society is now the Mansfield Veteran’s Association. The Association is responsible for presenting the Memorial Day Service in May and helping to maintain the small section of the park which contains the Veteran’s Memorial Gazebo. This includes planting flowers, watering the flowers, painting the bell stand, and setting up for the Service in May. The Association could use some new members to help with this years’ program. Someone is needed to design the program for the Memorial Day Service. We need people to help set up, give out American flags, etc. This service will take place on Sunday, May 17. Anyone interested in joining or just helping out for the day should please contact Laverne Cholewa at 609-298-5756.
