Peer leaders rewarded for efforts

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP — The Freehold Township High School Peer Leaders Memory Walk team — Team Lead Strong 15,000+ — has been awarded the Top Team and School Spirit awards by the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater New Jersey Chapter for exceptionally spirited teamwork and outstanding fundraising efforts during the chapter’s Southern Regional Memory Walk held in 2008.

Patrick McEvoy, a teacher at the school and adviser to the group, was the team captain. Team member Nicole Fiorletti, a student at the high school, earned the honor of Top Walker.

“We are very proud of all of our MemoryWalk supporters and are pleased to recognize Team Lead Strong 15,000+ and Nicole Fiorletti with these honors,” said Patricia Lombreglia, president and CEO of the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater New Jersey Chapter.

“The funds raised by our Memory Walkers will help support the programs and services our chapter has available for the over 350,000 New Jersey individuals and their family caregivers coping with Alzheimer’s disease,” Lombreglia said.

The Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk, nationally presented by Genworth Financial and locally sponsored by Genesis HealthCare, is the largest national fundraising event for Alzheimer’s disease support programs and is held annually in more than 600 communities across the country, according to a press release.

Americans who have participated in these walks have raised more than $230 million for programs and services to support individuals with Alzheimer’s disease.
