UPPER FREEHOLD — The township has seen a rash of car burglaries in the past month, leaving residents and police on the lookout for any suspicious behavior.
Residents have reported 10 car burglaries to police between mid-February and mid-March, according to New Jersey State Police Troop C spokesman Detective Michael Rosica.
Thieves appear to be targeting unlocked vehicles and are typically striking in the evening, he said.
Most of the burglaries have occurred in the Heritage Drive, Harney Town Road and Horner Town Road neighborhoods, he added.
Although, most of the stolen property has reportedly been electronic items, Detective Rosica said the total estimated losses are less than $3,000.
Police are asking residents to keep their vehicles locked at all times and be on the lookout for suspicious behavior.
Anyone who has information on the burglaries, or who wishes to report suspicious persons or activities should contact the station at 609-584-5000, extension 5286 and ask for Detective Joseph Etri.
