College seeks girls for monthlong tech camp

Middlesex County College (MCC), Edison, is looking for high school freshman girls to attend TechXploration, a free summer camp program in which teen girls design, develop and construct a working model of a fairgrounds ride, visit a theme park to better understand how amusement park rides work and learn from women who are working in engineering fields.

The monthlong program, set for July 6- 31, will be held at the state-of-the-art Middlesex County Academy for Science, Mathematics and Engineering Technologies at the MCC Edison campus.

Interested high school freshman girls should log on to www.middlesexcc.edu/techxploration/ for an online application.

The project is supported by the National Science Foundation to address the underrepresentation of women in the technical workforce.

For more information, e-mail Karen Ford at [email protected] or call Professor Josephine Lamela at 732-548-6000, ext. 3007.

The deadline to submit applications is April 1.
