Rev. Donald H. Fox, Princeton HS Class of 1970
I hope I’m not the only former student who writes you to congratulate you for the very good story you ran about Bill Roufberg (The Princeton Packet Magazine, Feb. 24) It warmed my heart to see my old teacher getting some of the publicity that he deserves. If Princeton High School were more like a private school, we old alums would have some sort of in-house publication that would allow us to continue to learn from what our old teachers are continuing to learn and do. As it is, this information only comes to us in a haphazard, hit and miss fashion.
I sometimes wish I knew where all my teachers were from my four years at Princeton High School (1966-1970). I know that I would be able to continue to learn much from them, perhaps even more than I learned a little over 39 years ago.
Again, thanks for running the story. Mr. Roufberg taught his Humanities Class so well that I’ve been studying the subject ever since. He did teach us “respect for people.” And he also taught us something that’s not easy to learn: that very intelligent people can always use humor as an educational tool.
