JAMESBURG: A new kind of business hits Jamesburg

JAMESBURG — Women’s retail is on its way to the borough’s business district as The Consignment Closet will be opening its doors to the public sometime late next week.
”It’s set up like a great big walk-in closet,” said business owner Denise Meyers. “I was trying to do it in an upscale style.”
This boutique style store will feature lightly used and new clothing for women and juniors and will include everything from the rare finds to the major brand names, Ms. Meyers said.
”It’s retail resale, but it’s situated in a different kind of presentation,” she said.
The store’s stock is diverse enough to satisfy anyone’s shopping addiction, ranging from jewelry to shoes to purses to casual wear to formal wear, she said.
Ms. Meyers said she was inspired by her own shopping habits when she decided to take on her newest business venture.
”All women make oopsie (shopping) mistakes,” she said. “You shop, bring things home, and they stay in your closet.”
While women look to declutter and make a little money in the process, Ms. Meyers and the public at large will be reaping the benefits, she said.
”You kind of get to shop in your neighbor’s closet,” Ms. Meyers said. “With the economy the way it is, this is truly saving people a lot of money. The economy has forced that hand.”
On the topic of expansion, if all goes well, Ms. Meyers said she might look into adding a little girls and tween section to her stock.
For April, the store will be hosting weekly raffles as well as offering its patrons who spend more than $20 “token of appreciation gifts.”
The grand opening is scheduled for April 4 at 10 a.m. at the Consignment Closet’s 31A E. Railroad Ave. Suite B location, a neighbor to the Sentry Realty offices.
Business hours will be Tuesday from noon to 7 p.m.; Wednesday from noon to 5 p.m.; Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday from noon to 7 p.m.; and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
