Princeton, NJ – March 30, 2009 – Helen Oscislawski, an attorney at Fox Rothschild LLP, will present a workshop on “HITECH, Red Flags, HIPAA and Updating Privacy & Security Programs,” at the New Jersey Hospital Association in Princeton, New Jersey, on April 14, 2009.
Fox Rothschild’s Michael J. Kline, a partner in the Princeton office, will be a special guest speaker at the workshop and will address the new regulations against a backdrop of associated governance issues from a nonprofit corporation perspective.
The one-day educational workshop will focus on the requirements of the new Red Flag Rules, the New Jersey Identity Theft Prevention Act, and the federal HITEH Act’s changes to HIPAA and its related Privacy and Security Rules. The requirements of the new laws, their impact to New Jersey health care organizations and what steps can be taken to become compliant will be discussed.
Oscislawski, who is a resident in Fox’s Princeton, New Jersey office, is widely-recognized for her experience with and understanding of laws affecting the use and disclosure of health information, including HIPAA’s privacy and security requirements. She concentrates her practice in the areas of general corporate and health care law, and has substantial experience with federal health care regulations, New Jersey health care regulations; fraud and abuse; HIPAA, privacy and security; and HIEs, RHIOs and EHRs. Oscislawski was appointed by Governor Corzine to the New Jersey Health Information Technology Commission to sit as a member with “demonstrated expertise in privacy [and security] laws.”
Oscislawski maintains a blog that provides information regarding cutting-edge legal and practical developments that health care providers and businesses must consider with regard to the handling and sharing of health information, including through the use of electronic health records.
