Manville High School Parent Teacher Student Association is sponsoring a flea market from 9 a.m. –2 p.m. April 25 (rain date May 2) in the high school gym parking lot. Spaces (measuring 10 feet by 15 feet ) $15 each, and you must supply your own table. To get a reservation form, please go to www.manvillesd.org and click on high school. Fill out the reservation form and return it to MHS PTSA with payment.

The flea market will be held the same day as the Manville Education Association scholarship clothing drive — help support two worthy organizations at the same time.
The Camplain Volunteer Fire Co. No. 2 is offering tickets for their 15th annual fundraising bus trips to two NASCAR Sprint Cup races. The trips will include a one-day trip to Dover Downs on May 31st and Pocono Raceway on Aug. 2. The trips include round-trip bus transportation from Manville, race ticket(s), food and beverages. All proceeds from the trips will benefit the Camplain Volunteer Fire Company building and equipment fund. Place orders for the Manville Reformed Church stuffed cabbage sale, scheduled for April 24-25, by April 12. The stuffed cabbages are $12 per dozen — call 908-575-0173 to place orders.
The 4-H Fair Entertainment Committee is seeking performers for the 4-H Fair, scheduled for Aug. 12, 13 and 14 at the Somerset County 4-H Fairgrounds at the North Branch Park in Bridgewater. The search is on for a variety of bands, musicians and vocal talent. Sacred Heart Church will hold an Easter Bake Sale following Masses April 4 and April 5. The sale will be held in the church auditorium on Filak Street.
Christ the King School used clothing collection will be held 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 4. The school is seeking wearable and usable clothing (Men’s, women’s and children’s), shoes, linens, stuffed animals, oversized children’s toys/gear (including strollers, high chairs, car seats, play yards, bouncers, walkers, swings, small bicycles). Shoes must be bagged separately. The school will receive a donation based on the total weight collected. Put donated items in plastic bags (with the exception of the oversized items) and bring to the rear of the school on the Chestnut Street side. The Spartan Club of Immaculata High School Mothers’ Auction will be held during its annual Fashion Show Luncheon, scheduled for April 4 at the Doubletree Hotel in Somerset. Night of Jazz at the Theatre at Raritan Valley Community College in North Branch, will feature Five Play, Rio Clemente, vocalist Frank Noviello and Mark O’Connor in concert beginning at 7 p.m. April 4. Sacred Heart Church Easter Bake Sale continues in the church auditorium on Filak Street following Masses.
Linda Russell will perform songs and ballads of the 18th century during a musical concert at the Old Dutch Parsonage historic site in Somerville at 7:30 p.m. April 5. Ms. Russell, well-known for her historic musical interpretation, will sing and play period instruments including hammered dulcimer, guitar and tin whistle.

The Manville Board of Education will meet in the media center at Alexander Batcho Intermediate School at 6 p.m. The board will adjourn to a closed session for personnel discussions, before opening the meeting to the public.
The Manville Public Library Board of Trustees will meet at 6:30 p.m. in the library conference room.
The Manville Planning Board will meet at 7:30 p.m. in the municipal complex.
Wednesday, April 8
St. Mary’s Byzantine Church, 1900 Brooks Blvd., Hillsborough, will sponsor a Slavic dinner from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the parish center. The cost is $11 for adults (ages 9 and up), $5 for children, and includes all-you-can-eat pirohi, stuffed cabbage, kielbasa and sauerkraut, fish, mashed potatoes, salad, dessert and beverage. Following the dinner, the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts and the Service of Holy Annointing will be celebrated in commemoration of Great and Holy Wednesday. Looking ahead
Annual Easter flower sale, sponsored by Manville North End Volunteer Fire Co. No. 3 and Ladies Auxiliary, will be April 10-11 in the parking lot of Rhythms of the Night on South Main Street. There’s a special preview sale from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. April 9th at the firehouse on North Eighth Avenue and Louis Street. Come in and shop early — light refreshments will be served. On April 25, Manville High School will be collecting donations of clean, usable, used clothing, shoes, belts, handbags, linens (sheets, towels, spreads, drapes, etc.), stuffed animals, and baby “gear” (such as high chairs, play yards, strollers, walkers, bouncers, car seats) which will be shipped to Europe in a fundraiser for scholarships for Manville High School seniors.
